Hugh B. Solvason PhD, MD. (USA)
Director, Stanford Neuromodulation Therapy Clinic
Dr. J. Solvason is Professor of Psychiatry at Stanford University and Director of the Stanford Neuromodulation Therapy Clinic. He specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, particularly treatment-resistant depression, and has extensive clinical and research experience in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), ketamine therapy, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. His work advances integrative and personalized approaches to mental health. Dr. Solvason’s presence on the Editorial Board brings valuable expertise to the journal’s exploration of mind-body health and integrative mental wellness.

Harold J. Recinos PhD. (USA)
Southern Methodist University
Dr. Harold J. Recinos is Professor of Church and Society at the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. As a cultural anthropologist, Latino theologian, and accomplished poet, his work explores the lived experiences of undocumented Central American migrants and the Salvadoran diaspora. He has published 19 collections of poetry and contributed to numerous journals and edited volumes. His scholarship and creative writing highlight the role of poetic imagination, cultural identity, and spiritual resilience in personal and communal healing, offering a unique humanistic dimension within the broader discourse of integrative mind-body approaches.

Samuel Montalvo PhD. (USA / México)
Certified Performance & Sport Scientist (CPSS)
Strength & Conditioning Specialist with Distinction (CSCS,*D)
Supported by fellowships from the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance and the NIH T32 Myocardial Biology Program, Dr. Montalvo integrates biomechanics, clinical exercise physiology, and multi-omics to investigate the molecular foundations of human performance. At Stanford’s Bioinformatics Core, he leads data analysis for the NIH-funded MoTrPAC project and contributes to research on sports ECG, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, neuromuscular disorders, and elite athletics.
He is also a Certified Performance & Sport Scientist (CPSS) and Strength & Conditioning Specialist with Distinction (CSCS,*D). In addition to his academic work, he represents Mexico’s national Wushu team and leads an international research initiative on martial arts. His vision is to integrate martial arts—including Taiji—into holistic, evidence-based exercise-as-medicine programs that promote global health.

Luis Fernando Cruz Quiroga MD, Esp, PhD. (Colombia)
Director, PhD Program in Exercise and Health, Manuela Beltrán University
Dr. Luis Fernando Cruz Quiroga is a physician and specialist in Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as a 4th Dan Black Belt in Taijiquan. He holds a PhD and postdoctoral fellowship in Complex Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience (University of South Florida, USA), and currently directs the Doctoral Program in Physical Activity, Exercise and Integrative Health at Manuela Beltrán University in Colombia. With over 30 years of experience teaching and applying Taiji-Qigong in clinical settings, Dr. Cruz combines neuroscience, martial arts, and integrative medicine to advance the scientific and therapeutic use of traditional mind-body practices.

Yang, Xiangquan PhD. (China)
Currently serves as the Dean of the School of Physical Education at Yunnan Minzu University (including the China-India Yoga Institute and International Taiji Institute), Director of the Department of Public Physical Education, and Director of the Key Laboratory for Integrated Sports and Medicine Daoyin Research. He began practicing traditional Taizu Long Fist in childhood.
He holds the 8th Duan in Chinese martial arts and 7th Duan in Health Yoga, is an international Muay Thai referee, a national-level judge for Sanda, Health Yoga, and Kabaddi, as well as a certified national social sports instructor. He is Vice President of the World Taiji Science Federation and Chief Martial Arts Advisor to the Cambodia Shaolin Cultural Center. He also serves as Deputy Director of the School Sports Teaching Committee of Yunnan Province.
He studied at Liaocheng University, Shanghai University of Sport (Wushu Institute), and the School of History at Nankai University. He holds a Ph.D. in History, completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Folklore Studies at Beijing Normal University, and was a visiting scholar in Traditional Chinese Health Studies at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and in Ethnic Traditional Sports at Beijing Sport University.
He is the lead instructor of the national-level open online course Taijiquan. As first author, he has published 22 books, including A History of Chinese Martial Arts Thought, Wushu in Tianjin, Modern Wushu History, and Traditional Chinese Wellness Studies. He has published 102 academic papers (25 in core journals), completed 3 national-level research projects, and currently leads one ongoing national project. He has also led 12 provincial and ministerial-level projects, with one more in progress.
Research interests: Ethnic traditional sports, traditional Chinese wellness studies, and Wushu-medicine culture.
